The Seventh Moon ...
Where did we get that name?
Finding a name for my business was no easy decision. The Seventh Moon was a dream of many years, brought to fruition at a turning point in my life. It was this change of seasons (so to speak) that helped me in the selection of the name. The Seventh Moon is the crescent moon nearest the Autumn equinox. This moon signals the beginning of a new cycle of creation according to many ancient traditions. The Cherokee call this the Great New Moon and believe it is when the world is created each year. As true as the name was in the beginning, it remains so each year. I continue on a path of growth and change with The Seventh Moon. My hope is that we connect and share in this journey together. - Xandria

XANDRIA LD AHNER, OWNER
FOUNDERR AND CO-OWNER
Xandria’s journey into wellness began with the art and practice of meditation while she fulfilled her 10-year commitment to active duty Air Force. It was during this journey while being stationed near Fairbanks, Alaska that she discovered the healing benefits of not only receiving massage therapy, but also giving. After completing nearly 1,400 hours of massage therapy education, Xandria built a growing and ever-changing business that is The Seventh Moon Wellness Spa and worked with clients for over 20 years. After many years of practicing massage therapy full-time and running the business simultaneously, the physical demands took their toll, and Xandria has handed the majority of responsibilities over to her daughter, Rowan, while she focuses on making her health and wellness a priority.
ROWAN LAITILA, OWNER
SPA DIRECTOR AND CO-OWNER
Rowan has been a part of The Seventh Moon since the very beginning. With each passing year, her job description grew to include different tasks and projects. Her first big job of setting out water and chocolates for clients after massages grew into answering the telephone and booking appointments. Now that Xandria has handed her the majority of business operations, she now directs the staff and coordinates in-house education as an Aveda Ambassador, manages all email and social media marketing campaigns and day-to-day operations of the spa and the new Coffee Cellar Café in the lobby of the spa. Her immense knowledge of every aspect of the business combined with her keen creative eye makes her a valuable asset at The Seventh Moon. Rowan graduated from Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Art with Honors, where she studied Art History and minored in French. When she’s not at the spa, you can find her reading a book and cuddling with her dog or in her studio painting.
BARBARA YAMRICH, LMT
In practice since: 1999 PA Massage License #MSG008271
Barbara, a New York native who relocated to Carbon County in 1985, has been a trained massage therapist for 20 years. A graduate of Health Options Institute, Bethlehem, Pa., Barb is a fully licensed therapeutic massage practitioner in Pennsylvania and is a member of Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals and Carbon/Lehigh Chamber of Commerce. She also carries a Karuna Reiki Master certification through Infinity Reiki Masters, New Hope, PA. In recent years Barb has not only gone on to study Oncology Massage, but has received cross certification as a Lymphatic Therapist, through the internationally accredited Norton School of Lymphatic Therapy.
Schooled in many modalities including Swedish, Deep Tissue, Sports and Thai Massage, she practices a unique style of integrative bodywork that blends several massage techniques together with energy balancing therapies like Reiki and Polarity; providing a deeply relaxing, effective, and personally tailored treatment. Although clients are free to choose a specific modality, Barb's preference is to just "let it flow." This allows her to draw, by instinct, on a broad base of training. She brings elements of focused work, such as Neuromuscular Therapy, Trigger Point and Myo-Skeletal Release together with Passive Stretching, Lymphatic Movement and more systemic, exotic styles like Shiatsu, Lomi Lomi and Ayurvedic Massage , blending all into one diverse, health supporting mix. Over the years, Barb has operated her own massage therapy office in Jim Thorpe as well as worked at several hotels and spas, yoga studios, gyms and Physical Therapy locations throughout the area. This variety of professional ventures has gained her hands on experience with warm and cold stone therapies, body wraps; herbal, clay and castor oil pack applications, and hot towel and steam treatments, as well as traditional massage and Reiki practice and more clinically focused sessions.
A yoga person and natural foods enthusiast since her teens, Barbara is also a self-trained chef and former restauranteur. She owned and operated a successful "art food" restaurant in Jim Thorpe for 13 years with her family, before experiencing career related burn-out and illness. It was during the resulting search for relief and healing that Barbara was introduced to Naturopathic medicine and then to therapeutic massage as a treatment modality. Finding the results so profound, Barb began studies with her doctor upon her return to health, and enrolled in a massage therapy education program shortly after that. Regarding this journey, Barbara finds it "Amazing that what seemed at first, a personal disaster, has turned out to be a personal transformation." Barb's hopes for the future include further study that might one day bring her two career paths of food service/hospitality and alternative health, together for work in food-based medicine and herbalism.
